- SB 5 (Public Act 26-15, § 39) (effective Jan 1, 2028). Platforms that recommend user-generated content based on a user's data must use commercially reasonable methods to determine that the user is not a minor, or get verifiable parental consent, before serving personalized feeds. By default, minors get at most one hour a day of such feeds, no feed notifications between 9 p.m. and 8 a.m., and a Surgeon General warning. Information collected to determine age must be deleted right after use. Violations are unfair trade practices.
